Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and Filipino communities in Japan turned out in large numbers for Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s rally in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, showing strong support for his legislative work and advocacy.
The Go Bong Go Global Filipinos, Mr. Malasakit Movement spearheaded the rallies in Nagoya and Osaka, while the Republic Defenders for Peace and Unity led the gathering in Tokyo. Across all locations, nearly 500 attendees came together, reflecting Go’s growing influence among OFWs as the campaign season heats up ahead of the May elections. In Nagoya, the engagement continues with an ongoing series of visits to its surrounding prefectures.
The Osaka event featured a dynamic program that included cultural performances, testimonials, and a musical showcase headlined by James “Moymoy Palaboy” and his brother Rodfil Macasero, among other artists. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, supporters echoed the same enthusiasm, reinforcing the strong connection between Go and the Filipino communities in Japan.
In a video message played during the event, Go directly addressed his supporters in Japan, thanking them for their sacrifices and promising to continue advocating for their welfare.
“To all our hardworking and dedicated OFWs in Japan, my warmest greetings and deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and sacrifices for your families and our beloved country. You are the modern-day heroes who continue to bring pride to the Philippines through your hard work and perseverance,” Go said.
Organizers emphasized Go’s contributions to policies benefiting OFWs, including his role in the creation of the Department of Migrant Workers.
“Isa po ako sa nagsulong, isa po ako sa author at co-sponsor ng Department of Migrant Workers, isang departamento para po sa ating mga OFWs,” he highlighted.
As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health, Go also reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare access for Filipinos, citing Malasakit Centers, Super Health Centers, and Regional Specialty Centers as key initiatives he has advocated for.
“As your senator, I have authored 16 laws. I have principally sponsored 82 laws, including 80 laws for the establishment and upgrade of public hospitals. And I have co-authored or co-sponsored 185 laws. Dahil bisyo ko po ang magserbisyo sa ating mga kababayang Pilipino. At naniniwala po ako na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo po ‘yan sa Diyos,” he said.
Go’s advocacy extends beyond health, as he also leads the Senate Committee on Sports and the Senate Committee on Youth. He encouraged young Filipinos to engage in athletics to stay healthy and steer clear of vices.
“Bilang chairman ng Senate Committee on Sports, iniinganyo ko po ang mga kabataan to get into sports, stay away from drugs, to keep us healthy and fit. Isa po ako sa author at co-sponsor ng National Academy of Sports sa New Clark City,” Go noted.
He reminded the youth of their crucial role in the country’s future, saying, “Mga kabataan, kayo po ang kinabukasan ng bayang ito.”
“Keep striving for your dreams, take care of your health, and always remember that you are never alone. Your Mr. Malasakit stands with you,” Go assured his supporters.
The overwhelming support from OFWs highlights the senator’s enduring service and the impact of his legislative work on Filipinos abroad.
