Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, in coordination with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), continues to uplift micro and small cooperatives across the country. One such beneficiary is the Bulig Credit Cooperative (BCC) in Davao City, which received a financial grant under the CDA’s Malasakit sa Kooperatiba program.
The grant has been instrumental in enhancing BCC’s operations, as highlighted in their testimonial: “The PhP 50,000.00 grant from the CDA was a big help to our micro-cooperative. It not only served as additional capital but also generated income through interest, service fees, and other charges deducted from each regular loan of our members. We are very grateful for the support from this government agency. More power!”
The program, which is part of CDA’s Human Capital Development Program, aligns with Senator Go’s advocacy to empower cooperatives and foster inclusive growth. The funding has allowed BCC to extend vital financial services to its members, further solidifying its role as a reliable partner in the community’s economic development.
Senator Go, who serves as Vice Chairperson of the Senate Finance Committee and a member of the Senate Committee on Cooperatives, has been a consistent advocate for increased funding and support for cooperative initiatives. Recognizing the potential of cooperatives in transforming local economies, he reiterated his commitment to strengthening this sector.
“Cooperatives like Bulig Credit Cooperative play a critical role in uplifting communities. They provide essential resources, promote financial inclusivity, and empower their members to build better lives,” Senator Go emphasized. “Through the Malasakit sa Kooperatiba program, we aim to give cooperatives the boost they need to succeed and create lasting positive impacts in their areas.”
The grant’s impact on BCC is a testament to the efficacy of such programs. By generating additional income and enabling members to access financial services more efficiently, the cooperative has grown stronger and more capable of addressing its members’ needs. BCC’s success story underscores the transformative potential of cooperative programs supported by the government.
Senator Go’s dedication to cooperatives reflects his broader vision for inclusive growth. By promoting financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and social equity through the cooperative movement, he aims to strengthen local economies and improve the quality of life for Filipinos, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
“Ang kooperatiba ay isa sa mga pinakamabisang paraan upang mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang bawat Pilipino na umasenso. Naniniwala ako na sa tulong ng kooperatiba, mas marami tayong kababayan na magkakaroon ng mas maayos na buhay,” said Senator Go.
Through his partnership with CDA and other stakeholders, Senator Go continues to champion programs that empower cooperatives to thrive, ensuring that they remain vital contributors to the nation’s sustainable development.
“Tuloy lang ang aking bisyo na magserbisyo dahil ang serbisyo sa tao, serbisyo sa Panginoon,” Senator Go concluded, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to serving the Filipino people.
