Senator Christopher “Bong” Go advocated for the wise use of resources to uplift the lives of the impoverished, reinforcing the importance of making every peso count for the betterment of the community. This as his Malasakit Team arrived in Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur, on Sunday, August 25, to assist thousands of struggling residents.
Go, in his message, urged the recipients to use the aid wisely and assured them of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve their well-being.
The senator also expressed his gratitude to the local government of Kumalarang for its steadfast support in helping its constituents, particularly during difficult times. He reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for more programs that directly benefit the poor and vulnerable sectors of society.
During his team’s visit, held at the Kumalarang National High School gymnasium, a total of 2,500 residents received financial support from the local government led by Mayor Ruel Molina in partnership with Go. Some also received shirts, a watch, a phone, and a pair of shoes from the Senator.
As the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare services through the Malasakit Centers at the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center in Zamboanga City, Margosatubig Regional Hospital in Margosatubig, or any of the 166 operational Malasakit Centers nationwide.
He urged residents to take advantage of the services offered by the Malasakit Center, a one-stop shop for medical assistance from various government agencies. The senator principally authored and sponsored Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which has already helped approximately ten million Filipinos nationwide by providing them with easier access to medical aid according to DOH.
